Homemade Lilac Syrup

It’s lilac season in my backyard, so I made some fragrant and tasty syrup. It’s great in lemonades or on top of vanilla ice-cream.

Homemade Lilac Syrup

1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup lilac flower buds
2 tbsp. lemon juice

Heat water and sugar, add lilac flowers and lemon juice and  simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes. Add a few blueberries for color or use food coloring.
Strain the syrup through a sieve or filter. Pour into glass jar. Let cool, and put in fridge.
