Smoked Turkey Reuben Sandwich

This sandwich is a great combination of pure ingredients – rye bread, mustard, sauerkraut and smoked turkey meat. Something from winter menu. I made it with Russian-style sauerkraut, it’s not so sour, crisp well and made with carrot. Recipe adapted from Yum Sugar blog.

2 slices of rye bread
1 tbsp. oil
1 tsp. mustard (Russian style mustard much hotter)
2 slices Swiss cheese
3 slices smoked turkey
1/4 cup sauerkraut

Spread mustard on the one side of each piece of bread.

On the mustard-coated side lay a slice of cheese, add three slices of smoked turkey. Add the sauerkraut evenly atop the meat. Top the sauerkraut with another slice of cheese, and lay the second slice of bread, mustard-side down, on top of the cheese.

In a skillet over medium-low heat the oil, cook the sandwich, turning once, until both sides are golden brown and cheese is melted.

Slice in half and serve.
