Russian Green Pepper and Sour Apple Salsa – Green Adjika

A quick combination that’s both spicy and sweet. Recipe from great cook and my friend from Latvia – Janochka. Adjika, here, mean hot sauce.


1 lb. sour green apples, cored (Granny Smith is great)
1 lb. of sweet green peppers
1-2 jalapeño or green chili peppers (optional)
7-10 garlic cloves
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cups vinegar
1-2 tbsp. salt

Finely chop with knife or blender apples, peppers and garlic. Combine all in enameled saucepan, add vinegar, salt and sugar. Stir well and leave at night (for the final dissolution of sugar and salt).
Expanded in sterile jars. Store in the fridge.

Very good with tomato salads.
