Blueberry Lime Chocolate Morning Jam

Last year I wanted to try to cook unusual jams. I began with Banana & Passion Fruit Jam and this blueberry jam with lime and chocolate.  Recipe of blueberry lime jam is from Ball’s Blue Book of Preserving. I added chocolate in half portion of jam and had a very rich taste in it.


4 1/2 cups blueberries
1 package powdered pectin (optional)
5 cups sugar
1 T. finely grated lime peel
1/3 cup lime juice
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or chunks

Crush blueberries one layer at a time.  Combine crushed blueberries and powdered pectin in a large saucepot.  Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.  Add sugar, stirring until dissolved.  Stir in grated lime peel and lime juice.  Return to a rolling boil.  Boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat. Skim foam if necessary. Add chocolate, let’s stay 1-2 minutes, stir.   Ladle hot jam into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace.  Adjust two-piece caps.  Process 15 minutes in a boiling-water canner (omit this if you have place in refrigerator).  Yields about 6 half-pints.
