Old-World Rye Bread

Adapted from Betty Crocker’s Best Bread Machine Cookbook. Very rich taste, soft and chew crumb.


2 1/4 cups bread flour
1/3 cup mashed potatoes flakes (dry)
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon caraway seed
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
2/3 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup rye flour.

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Regular Bake cycle. Do not use delay cycles.
